"In the nation's pursuit of energy affordability, climate change mitigation, and energy security, energy efficiency stands out as perhaps the single most promising resource." -- Unlocking Energy Efficiency in the U.S. Economy, McKinsey and Company, September, 2009. We couldn't have said it better ourselves. The problem is, while both business and residential energy efficiency can be major ways to save energy, money, and the planet, it is, just, well, a little boring. RENEWABLE ENERGY gets all the attention, and to be sure, solar, wind, geothermal and tidal power are all exciting ways to save energy, prospects that in the long run will reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and unstable foreign power. But long before these technologies reach a price point that is appealing to most Americans, we can harness the power of improving business and residential energy efficiency to take small, .. more»

Thermal-power plants which store heat intended for over cast days could possibly address many of the difficulties with storing solar energy.
Solar advocates like to brag that merely a couple of hundred square kilometers worth of photovoltaic solar panels placed in Southwestern deserts could possibly power the United States. Their particular strategies contain a warning, needless to say: with no backup energy plants or costly purchases in massive batteries, flywheels, or additional energy-storage systems, this solar power supply would likely vary significantly with each and every passing cloud (along with the daily rise and fall as well as seasonal ebbs and flows). Solar power startup company Ausra, located in Palo Alto, believes they have the answer: solar-thermal-power plants that will convert sunlight into steam and efficiently store heat for cloudy days.
"Fossil-fuel supporters normally point out that solar cannot get the job done, that .. more»

SunEdison to Build Europe's Largest Solar Power Plant
SunEdison is a division of MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc. They have bagged a project to develop and construct a photovoltaic solar power plant in Northeastern Italy, near the town of Rovigo. This solar power plant will have a capacity of 72 Megawatt (MW). This will be the largest solar power dell inspiron 11z battery plant in Europe. SunEdison is a North American company. It finances, installs and operates distributed power plants using photovoltaic technologies. In 2009, SunEdison delivered more kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy than any other solar services provider in U.S.A.
Banco Santander will be the partner of SunEdison in this project. It is a retail and commercial bank, based in Spain. It is the largest financial group in Spain and Latin America. Few more companies are expected to join this project as partners. Pancho .. more»
